Take the Self-Care Day Challenge!

It’s time to take your health into your own hands

Lately, there has been a lot of talk about self-care. As our lives get busier, prioritizing self-care becomes increasingly important. Many of us think of self-care as practicing yoga, a day at the spa or even spending quality time with friends. While these are all great ways to relax, there is much more to it!

The concept of self-care is about empowering individuals, families and communities to practice healthy habits, prevent disease and cope with illness or disability to achieve optimum health. Taking better care of ourselves by utilizing the

products available to us not only helps Canadians lead healthier lives, it also alleviates strain on our healthcare system! Making a commitment to practice self-care has so many benefits.

That’s why Bayer, a global health products leader, is working to educate consumers on how Better Self-care for a Better Life can make a difference in quality of life, while improving healthcare sustainability.

Here are a few ways I practice self-care:

With the hot summer months already here, taking care of my skin and protecting it from harmful UV rays is probably the most important task for hot sunny days.  Not only is it important for me (I use Coppertone Sport SPF 30), but it’s even more important for my two little guys.  I won’t allow Mason or Asher to go in the sun without applying their Coppertone Sunscreen and to be honest I apply it about 20 minutes before even going into it. And now they are even learning the importance, when it’s time to go outside Mason will ask for his sunscreen.  It’s the cutest thing!  And applying to them has become a breeze now that they are used to it.  If there is one self-care practice I preach, it’s always ensure you are safe from the sun by applying and re-applying the proper sunscreen with the appropriate Sun Protection Factor (SPF). The point of self care with sunscreen is protecting myself and the boys before getting burnt is even an issue.

In support of International Self-Care Day on July 24th, I challenge you to share your self-care practices with me. To help get you started, Bayer has created a self-care calendar with one tip for each day of the month
